Attention Sydney! Come help keep our beaches clean at our coastal clean up on September 1st in honour of International Beach Day!
About this event
COASTAL CLEAN UP
THURSDAY 1st SEPTEMBER | 9:00AM
Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastic wind up in our oceans and beaches. That’s enough full trash bags of plastic to cover every foot of coastline around the world, five times over.
Plastic is one of the most enduring materials man has created. New research shows that plastic may never fully degrade. Even after hundreds of years, it remains microplastic.
Join our local community and Wolf & Badger in raising awareness around marine plastic pollution as we clean up the fragments on Bondi Beach.
Let’s do our part to reduce the impact of the 11.1 billion plastic particles currently entangling the Asia-Pacific coral reef ecosystem, affecting more than 7000 species of fish, invertebrates, plants, sea turtles, birds, and marine mammals.
Meet at the flag in front of the Bronte surf life saving building between 9 am - 10 am on Thursday 1st September to receive your supplies before heading off on your own from Bronte to Bondi. We’ll end the clean-up together at Flave’s Bondi Beach restaurant for a free hot beverage at 12pm.
It’s a community event, and everyone is welcome! Feel free to invite family and friends. We can’t wait to see you there!
